In this exercise, we were to practice close analysis of a media write up, by isolating our visual (sight) and auditory (sound) senses. In this subsidisation we were asked to listen to an strait news shroud, make nones, view a silent video version of the same report, make notes and accordingly view the complete report using both audio and video and make notes on it. The goal was to see the contrariety in impact each type had and to teach a technique that we can use to evaluate research for our net project.
When listening to the audio alone, I understood the meaning scarce at surface level. The audio yet clip did not have the same level of emotion for me. The statement that I responded the most was the idea the kidskin molesters kill the soul of the child and while the cobblers last penalty has been used for killers of the body, the speaker would exchangeable to include those who kill the soul as well. I did notice the images of the children as ones I have seen before on other news reports but with no names, I do not recall who they are.
I found that the combined report had a more emotional impact on me than either the audio or visual report alone. I found the combined report to solidify the main objective of the report as one of using the death penalty in a more broad way, for more crimes and that using it as some states are now for children who kill others for as boylike as 11 years old surprising. While I recall that from the audio, I did not fully understand the meaning. I also noticed that the report was from June 2006, not a more recent report as I first thought.
