This mixed lecture and discussion running emphasizes study themes in American History through the narrative of our countrys past. Specifically, students will examine the historical events, decisions, and consequences of those decisions during the period from the Civil state of war through the end of World War I. Upon completing this course students should have knowledge about, and critical analysis of, U.S. business relationship from 1861-1921. In addition, students should have an understanding of the relevance of this period to present daytime society.

II. Purpose
This course is designed to provide the student with an overview of American history from 1861-1921. We will explore issues of historical significance including socio-cultural (social class, race, ethnicity, gender), philosophical, political and effectual tenets.[1]

Course Objectives

This course is intended to provide the student with an awareness of the various influences or currents that shaped the American experience. This class introduces students to major topics, issues and traditions in
